:oHi buying a new system soon and as most Graphics cards can support twin screens “Dual dual-link DVI” I was thinking!

Just now I have one single 19” Viewsonic screen and I was going to pair it up with another 19” Viewsonic screen. Now the reason for doing this is that sometimes I could do with that second display and the fact then when I’m in the pc room I have a 14” Sony TV connected to a Sony Video/DVD combo which in turn connected to the Sky box.

Scart for Vid/DVD to TV….

How could I remove the TV and Watch TV with the Vid/DVD and Sky through a second monitor?

I understand I could use the PC dvd player but would rather use the Combo DVD&Video player which is set up to record Sky etc…..

To be fair I’ve not looked behind my monitor to see if it take Scart? If it does sorted! But what do they mean by TV out on cards?

just get a video cable selector box which plugs both the pc and the sky/dvd into it and then has one output to the monitor so when u want to use it for computing or the dvd/sky you just flick the switch :)

just so you know, Dual link DVI does not mean it supports 2 monitors. Dual link means the DVI ports output 2 data links, which are needed for high resolution monitors. Its basically like sending 2 streams of data along a single cable, as a single DVI link maxes out at about 1900x1200 think...

For dual screens, you just need 2 monitor ports.

Sorry, i meant display port on the card.

If your card has 2, you can run 2 monitors.

It is possible to run multiple monitors off of a single DVI port, but im not going to go there. I dont fully understand it and its not required for you.

Yeah the problem was never the dual screens as a mate that knows nothing about PC has it set -so i know how easy its done. Its getting the TV and Video combo on one screen while i use the other for PC thats the trick!
