Hi guys, quick question for you geniuses out there more experienced than I am

I've got a Windows system that needs backing up, and needs a load of music production work I've done storing for good in case my drive ever packs up.

I've also got a Macbook Pro that I'm about to reformat and do an occasional backup on Time Machine just in case. Again this has a load of music production work that needs somewhere to back up too...

I have an old drive that 'failed' in windows but Mac disk utility reformatted it and everything seems okay, however I don't trust it so I was thinking on that I can store music, movies and photos on etc, rather than important work.

What my question is, is this- what's the best (cheapest) way to organise a set up like this? Is it to get a 1 or 2TB drive and partition it for Windows and Mac? Is that even possible? Or should I get, say, 2 500GB drives for Windows and Mac and just keep them separate?

Any advice for me from you guys who have done it before? I just need my music work to be safely backed up, and other than that I need space to back up my other crap from both systems.

Maaany thanks
