Benn using a Hanns G hh241 which i bought used for 3 years now, the screen is heavily marked and has scratches on it, mostly from before i got it, and because i never bothered to clean it.

However i'm going to pick up an Ikea Fredde desk at the end of the week and would like to upgrade to a dual monitor setup during this month or next.

One will be for gaming, one will be for web browsing and I will be doing some photoshop work and video editing, which isn't often, but I would like the panel to have some colour accuracy.

I'm going to be sitting just over two feet away, and when the sun is up, the glare from behind means i cant really see on my cheapo TN panel possibly because its heavily marked.

My setup is in a conservatory so theres no curtains or anything to shield from sunlight. I also notice input lag on my monitor and when im playing heroes and generals and battlefield it frustrates me. Although it may not be input lag, and may just be me only getting 40-50 fps depending on the map.

But in heroes and generals with a lot of dark forrest areas it really is a problem. If i spawn inside a house i can't see where im going, partly because of all the marks on the monitor. Although im hoping the top shelf of the fredde desk would shield the moinitors a bit from the sunlight.

Im going to be getting a 1070/980ti or polaris 10 (480x). Possible upgrade to Vega (I like the name and the streetfighter character) i'm also of the belief that this is a benchmark so polaris is an option for me

The second monitor doesn't need to be great if the main one is good enough for gaming and content creation, I don't mind going used.
Originally I was thinking a TN 144hz 1080p and an IPS 1440p monitor but with the sunlight possibly being an issue is this viable? Could the sunlight be a issues because of how bad my old panel is? I did only pay £50 for the monitor.

I am not fussed about free sync or g sync, but I don't want to pay the ridiculous premium for Gsync if i can avoid it. Any advice?

TL;DR two monitors for an Ikea Fredde desk, sunlight possibly an issue, one for gaming with polaris 10/1070/Vega upgrade, one for browsing/minor photoshop work.

Don't think there's really an answer to this... screens and bright sunlight simply don't work well together. There's a reason most of us nerds live in dark rooms ;)

But you could try looking for monitor hoods, which might help you out a bit regardless of your choice of screen :)

For colours, most IPS screens currently offer 98-100% of sRGB, so unless you're doing print work, that's good enough. I personally swear by Dell, but they're hella expensive - although you get a zero-dead-pixel guarantee for your money.

Thanks, its finally good to get a response aha. The monitor hoods actually look quite good, its not often that the sun is out in the UK so I wouldn't mind using it when its out.

Ill take a look at dell's properly, I saw that they are highly recommended, but I didn't know about the Zero pixel guarantee, so that would definitely give me peace of mind.

However I have read that IPS monitors can suffer from backlight bleed, whats the best way to test for this when I buy a monitor, and can it be replaced, if the monitors I buy suffer from backlight bleed?
