How many of you use dual monitor setups?

Would also like to know how you setup your applications, i.e. IDE on one screen FTP on the other?

And also has it improved your productivity and workflow?

Need some justification before I shell out on another screen :D

Cheers.

At work, yes, 2x22". Just one 24" at home. Usually have editing programs (code, graphics, etc.) on left (main) screen, preview and debugging output on the right. Improves productivity a great deal - trivial as it sounds, so much nicer having IDE in full screen mode, and time saving not having to switch between programs!

UltraMon (http://www.realtimesoft.com/ultramon/) completes the setup for me.

i have three. one 19, and two 24s.

19 = email / calendar
first 24 = visual stuido
second 24 = firefox/chrome

I've got a 24 and a 19. Code on the 24, full screen, and test runner and browser on the other depending if I am doing UI or functionality. Massive productivity improvement :)

yup - dual here too.

One for outlook / broswer. Other for apps. Makes it soooo much easier refreshing and also working with mutiple apps.

Make sure you get them the same size though.

I use 3, and for Web development i use all 3 and usually find myself wanting a 4th even 5th! I can never have enough space.

It certainly helps.

Using 2 * 22". want another. Best thing I ever did was add an additional monitor

I develop primarily in .NET and recently moved to VS2010 - works great over dual monitors, so I tend to work across both screens with the IDE. I would like another for browsing/reference material.

I use 3 screens.

24" on the left - gives me lot of space for coding.
19" in the middle for browsers so testing changes is nice and quick
19" on the right which runs windows mail + msn windows.

I am considering getting another 24" to replace the middle one, just I wish I had a bigger desk! they are pretty hard to come back for some odd reason (or maybe I am not looking in the right store).

When I was moved to dual screens from single, productivity and workflow of course improved. Having 3 is even better if one can afford some nice screens.

Currently at work:

22" in the middle, 20" on the right.

Visual studio in the middle with the solution explorer/properties etc window docked to the left side of the right monitor to give the main screen as much space as possible, then SQL, notepad++, FTP and email in the right monitor.

At my old office I used to have the best setup ever:

20" widescreen in portrait on the left
30" widescreen in the middle
20" widescreen in protrait on the right

It was.... beautiful *cries*

Back home I had 17"-28"-22", but I moved out into Uni accomodation and the desk in my room is too small. It's a push getting the 28" on with my speakers and the computer. :(

two 21.5s

browser on the right, then work on the left, sometimes work on both, depends what I'm doing. But yes it is very useful

two dell 24"'s

main screen for browsing, photoshop or whatever im working on

right screen for FTP, outlook, winamp, skype, notes etc

100% is more productive and i sometimes feel like i would use /could do with/ want a third screen.. (might actually do this soon)

I know what you mean, I have a dell 2001fp thats buggered, the colours are poor, there are bugs under the screen and its about 6 years old. I cant get rid of it though as it goes portrait which is soooo nice for coding. 90% of the time I want a tall monitor rather than a wide one.

At work I run: Dell 2007WFP in front and Dell 1907FP on the right.

Image editing on 2007 and coding on the 1907 is usually how it goes, sometimes I split the 2007 down the middle and have 3 apps in view depending on what I'm doing.

I run 2 22" dells, comes in handy and speeds things up but im thinking about grabbing a 24" as a main screen... but it worth getting another one lol.

2 here 24" and 20.1", 1 which has order management software on the small left one, the middle one is usually used for label programs, email, internet. It really helps when doing websites as well! Can have 2 different browsers open, ftp and browser, notepad etc. Really does help! I do not yet see a need for a third for my uses.
