Hey I've just set up dual monitors and every now and then my second screen starts flickering. My main monitor is 27" and my second is 22" and there both at 60Hz.

Works fine after I turn the monitor off for like 20min. the only way I can describe the flickering is like when you record tv of your mobile camera.

GPU is 5870 I have 2 but It does the same when I run the monitor off both cards.

I've changed cables and DVI to VGA converter and i've tried it in my second 5870.

I've been googling the problem and come across a few posts. Some of these post point the blame to pen tablet drivers (Which I do have installed) I have now uninstalled those drivers so far so good but it wasn't flickering before I uninstalled them.

Other people relate it to being ATI driver problems now I'm currently rolling on the 10.5's mainly because the 10.6 suck for crossfire on GTA IV it makes it perform worse than using a single 5870. And oddly two people were convinced it was the blame of CPU frequency. Now Personally I think that's "BS" never the less any ideas would come in handy.

Also regarding the above posts I've tried them all with no success one problem I'm having is if I use a DVI port in my second GPU it wont detect the monitor. Now I know its not the GPU's fault as the second GPU used to be my main GPU before I went crossfire. So any ideas there would help.

I must say I've never had this problem, you are sure that just using your second screen does not give the problem.

Far searched but, magnetism or radiation ? Got a big speakers close to your monitor? A mobile phone close to it?

Can't say I've ever had your problem, despite using dual screens for years now. I've always been with Nvidia though. Have you tried a second ( or third, if I understand correctly you already have 2) cheapo gfx card for the second monitor. Or a different port for the second monitor ?

i've got the 5870 too, I use eyefinity, but im nearly 100% it's the drivers. they all suck. the only set of drivers that actually allow all three monitors to work and not flicker/turn off randomly and come back on shortly if at all, was the 10.3 drivers.

try cleaning your drivers out and installing 10.3 drivers. I had to do a new win7 install because 10.3 wouldn't install for some reason.

its not the idle gpu clock thing is it? - do you ever get the second screen flickering while gamins or is it just while you are sitting idle?

check the GPU temps, check you have the latest drivers, check all cables are plugged in try card with a different rig if it still happens contact OCUK and see if they will RMA your card maybe?
