Dual Screen at different resolutions

So after a number of years I finally bought a second monitor today, I was getting pretty annoyed with having just one and caved to buying another.

I went out and goy myself a lovely new LG IPS224V 22" HDMI IPS Monitor ( http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9129432.htm#pdpFullProductInformation )

I've set it up and and it's working, drivers installed etc. However this monitor offers a higher resolution than my old Dell screen (I can't remember the old model name, it's pretty old but DVI compatible, not HDMI). When I set the LG screen to it's highest resolution (with the Dell on a lower but still it's highest resolution), the screen displaying, isn't the full size of the monitor. But when I have the resolution the same as my other monitor, the display is a bit fuzzy. I was wondering if this was just my mistake for buying the wrong sized screen or if there's actually anything I can do about it.

I've installed and messed around with DisplayFusion a little bit but can't find any options to help with this either.

Any advice would be much appreciated :)

I have dual monitors also a 22" samsung (HDMI) and an Asus 27" (DVI) both of them are on difference resolutions ....and at first i had to muck around with the Asus for a bit to get it so its good to use whilst playing BF3..personally though i wouldnt bother with 3rd party display apps ....just muck about with it a while :)

If you right click on the desktop and select screen resolution it should give you options for both screens.
Set your LG to the native resolution, then click the screen drop down and select the other screen. Then set the correct resolution for that.

If the icons and text seem smaller, you may have use zoom features to see it better.

And with respect I dont think LG's are all that good anyway...the one i had had a kind of blue tint to it ..and wasnt too clear either...so i got myself a nice Samsung :)

Correct, around all edges (not in any games or anything)

Yeah...I had the same issue with my Asus when i first got it, had to muck around with it a bit though , So I have mine set @1680 x 1050 , And in advanced settings its set to 59Hertz

My Samsung 22" i have set to 1152 x 864..and screen refresh @75 Hertz , and for me...both are just right at those settings at the moment

What do you suggest I try changing then? I'm looking through the screen menu's but can't really find anything of any use that may zoom it in at all :S

when i have mine set to 1920 x 1080 everything is a bit small for my eyes even with changing the refresh rate , so i lower the resolution bit by bit and also the refresh rate until its perfect for me ...thats pretty much all i do :D

Right, well I like this resolution but there are black borders which is what I want to get rid off, when I lower the resolution to the same as my old monitor it takes up the whole screen but is a bit blury, so you see my dilemma :P

Your new monitor is 1920x1080. So for the best look you should set the new monitor to that resolution and fiddle about with your other one. You may have to use CCC if you have an AMD card and change some of the settings in there.

Both are currently set to their intended resolutions at the moment, I've tried messing around with my other Dell monitor but that's not really effecting the LG screen at all.

I'll try CCC but I got rid of it as best as possible when I had driver problems a while ago, I'll see about getting it back and seeing what I can do.

Overscan setting, common with HDMI.

You need to go to this setting to fix:

EDIT: And you found the fix before my post, nevermind :p. But this overscan problem is common when connecting monitors/TV via HDMI to AMD/Nvidia.

Should be an option in the Nvidia control panel, ive only ever done it on AMD, but i imagine its quite the same.
