Dual shock 3 looks the same as six axis?

Mine would read SOME discs, but it wouldn't read some in equal measure, it was locking up too.

I can think of at least one other person who's had that issue. Apparently failed BR drives is the main problem of returns, but even still, it's a minimal amount.

Something to be aware of though, appears it could be a fairly common fault.

I guess any kinda new tech (blue ray diodes) is going to have its problems anyway it wouldnt be a playstation without DRE lol. Thats the problem with slot loaders not easy to clean the lens, and I wouldnt trust a lens cleaner at all! As long as Sony are quick to replace the console, which i remember you saying it was its not so much of a problem but an annoyance never the less.

Back OT has everyone whos asked me about DS3 got the info yet? As my mail server been doing funny things today lol

I love slot loaded drives for the 'cool' factor, but I was worried about then if they got 'dirty', same with the Wii.
Sony were nothing short of fantastic for the returns service, rang on Wednesday afternoon and by 10am on Friday the guy was at my door holding a new one and picking mine up. Straight swap.

Yeah i recall you saying, im sure they got a third party in to deal with these if i remember correctly, think they got an award for the customer service a while back. Off topic but if theres no 60Gb about in the UK wonder what happens with returns now? They cant give you a 40Gb so they must have a stock pile of 60Gb for this reason?

Good point. Maybe they do what MS started doing and repairing them?
Of course, you're knackered if the mainboard goes as you'd need a new one with the PS2 support. Of course, I'd accept an 80gb model :p.

i did mail u back with a thanks :)

And so did I - I ordered the white one so I didn't get it muddled up with my regular Sixaxis controllers. Can't wait for it to come as soon as my Paypal payment is verified.

I do love the Sixaxis layout myself (one of the reasons I'm getting rid of the 360). It's just the creakiness of the plastics that make the standard controller a slight annoyance. I'm hoping the DS3 will address that.

Re the return: my first 60GB PS3 was replaced with a brand spanker about two weeks ago when it would periodically boot up with no display, but sadly there's none left now so it'll be a refurb I'll be getting. Handily though, as I got a brand new one last time, the warranty was for a full year from the courier swap out date, so the refurb will enjoy the remaining 11 month odd warranty. I'm not bothered, but I did briefly think about suggesting they replace it with a 40 gb PS3 if it was a new one.

Even more OT: I did notice when I was playing Drakes Fortune on Friday and yesterday that there was a huge amount of very noisy bluray disc access - I just assumed it was the way the game had been burnt onto the disc, I think now it was perhaps a symptom of a dying drive.

Mine is sitting in my hand. Just noticed the nice company that sent it put $3 as the declared value even though I never said to. Which should mean I miss customs charges. Now to give it a whirl...

Ok ill 3rd it

Its a simple but important question?

Don;t think I know of a multiplatform game that supports rumble yet on both consoles tbh. I treid my COD4 just now and that doesn't have rumble yet.

Maybe the Burnout Paradise demos on both networks on thursday will support it, and someone who has both consoles and both controllers can test?

So far I have experienced the rumble in Uncharted, and some other downlaodable PS3 games (like Tekken and PAIN). I think it will be weaker tbh, as it doesn't feel as "heavy" as the 360 so the motors may be smaller (but having said that if they spin faster it would still have same effect).

So in short don't know. If someone can suggest a free demo on both networks that has rumble, I will try it.

The Darkness looks like it might have but I don't want to make you download it "just in case".

Just in case, what? In case it doesn't support rumble?
I have the retail game here, I'll load it up later and see.... though actually, I guess the demo on the PSN would be less likely to have rumble... they may update the full game, but I doubt they'd do that for the demo?

I have an XBOX360 pad plugged into my PC, and could conduct a similar test that RP2000 is suggesting, but I don't think that any of the PS3 games I have, are on the PC.. most of the rumbling ones are exclusives... hmmm, I'll have to check if Stranglehold has rumble, if so, I could grab the PC demo to compare it to.

From my perspective so far though, using different games, I'd say the XBOX pad has the stronger rumble, though I've also noticed in games on the PS3, there's the option to set the level of rumble, which I've not played around with yet.

Then again, I have the USB XBOX pad, so maybe as it's not a battery powered one, the rumble is stronger? It's certainly loud, in that you can hear the motors working. Made me jump when I loaded up Crysis, and still had the XBOX pad connected. I was playing with keyboard and mouse, loaded a savegame, and jumped off a ledge. The XBOX controller was on the floor, touching my little toe ;) The bugger vibrated when I landed, on my toe, and made me jump like hell! ;)

V1N.

I'd love to see a PS360 pad guide for DS3.

For me the ancient PS pad is soo damn uncomfortable and awkward to use. They could have atleast revised the stick placement to a less claw inducing possition. :(

Just as an update, I will do some tests with Burnout Paradise Demo tomorrow (assuming the demo on PSN supports rumble, I assume the 360 one will by default).

Did the F1 demo support rumbel or ever get patched.
It felt awful without it?

It certainly did get patched.
I played it again last week for the first time in ages, there was an update, and there was rumble :)

V1N.

EDIT: oops, re-read. I doubt the demo would've got an update, I've got the retail disk.
