Dual vs Quad?

I would say it depends on whether you can afford it or just want to save money.

I can understand the need/desire to save money but if you plan on having the PC for sometime,
with an i7 920 at a round £200, I'd do overtime/wash cars/dishes, anything if necessary to make up what is not a lot of cash for a CPU that can run at 975 speeds without too much trouble. My guess it wouldn't be too long before you wanted to chop in the dual core (and mobo) for a quad. False economy.

I live on my own and have done for a few years now, dont think my parents gonna give em extra £s for washing there dishes :p Another reason is the VAT changes next year, im tryign to take advantage of it now, every penny helps.

i wouldnt go from a q6600 to a dual core, thats just downgrading, an overclocked 3ghz+ q6600 is still a brilliant cpu. you wouldnt see much gaming difference going from that to even an i7, so not really worth upgrading especially as all you play is aion.

If you already have a q6600 theres not much point in upgrading imo, especially if money is tight. Going from that to any dual though is basically shooting yourself in the foot so i really wouldn't do that the way technology is evolving. Also going from a q6600 to an i5/Phenom II and you're not really going to see the benefits you'd probably expect from doing a major upgrade. If you've got your q6600 at a respectable clock i'd sit tight now if i were you :)

You've already got a Q6600 but @ 2.4Ghz? There is no need to change your CPU, you might want to do some research in how to overclock it though. That's it.
