Dual Xeon E5-2630 optimal memory configuration

Could someone confirm for me what the optimal memory configuration would be for a storage server with 2 Xeon E5-2630 processors?

Am I right in thinking these processors support quad-channel memory?

If so, is it best to have 4 Dimms or a total of 8 (4 for each processor)?

Yes thats correct. Dont bother with anything over 1333Mhz as its not supported with the E5-2630.

four dimms are ideal - per cpu but to be honest I would be surprised if you saw any gains over running normal dual channel.

Quad channel in this case is 4 dimms per CPU.

E5 get a nice perf boost from 1600mhy memory in the right board such as EVGA SR X
