Off to Dubia and Oman on Friday (early morning), its my first time there and may not be back for a long while.

Is there anything that i should go out my way to do while im there?

Thanks Guys. :)

In Dubai do either Atlantis or Wild Wadi, they are both very decent waterparks. Unavoidably you will end up going to shopping malls as there is not much else to do! Dubai mall is prob a good choice currently. Good places to go out to eat include Souk Madinat and DIFC. If you want to see what Dubai was like before it got Vagazzled then Dubai Museum is worth a look (but it's pretty low key).

Are you travelling with any kids?

I went there a couple of years back and regret not going up the Burj Khalifa.

Go to Dubai Mall and see the Burj Khalifa, the musical fountain (at night), biggest fishtank and some overpriced English shops ;)
Go to the Souks (markets) in Old Dubai near the Creek - if you go, see if you can find some chocolates in the spice souks - they look like the stones that you put in fish tanks - taste delicious though - trust me ;)
Madinat Jumeriah - Thai food but quite expensive: Pai Thai - make sure you book. You have to get a boat across to the restaurant. Plenty of other places to eat there too.
Atlantis Water Park - I didn't go to Wild Wadi but Atlantis was brilliant :)
Chi Nightclub was good if you like that kind of thing.

They also have all you can eat brunches out there.. they are also all you can drink. Never had one but apparently they are amazing.

Enjoy! I didn't think I would like it there but really did :)

Oman is great. Nizwa (sp) has a nice fortress to go round. There are also some fantastic wadi's to visit. I think wadi shab(sp) was one of the best. The snorkering and diving in Oman is also superb.

Do the desert dunes run in Land Cruisers. Its a whole day spent dune-ing in Land Cruisers and an evening bbq campfire meal in the desert. The one I went on was run by Emirates.

Cheers, We are going to one of the waterparks as my misses is swimming with dolphin's as it's her birthday present. :). We get free access to the waterpark with that so that will be done for sure.

I think our hotel is in a mall somewhere so that will get done.

The souks do look interesting, that maybe a good afternoon out. :)

No kids, just me and missus (no kids planned either :) )

Also interested, flying tomorrow!

Awesome, Manchester? Flight still on?

There are some great idea's there. Will look into some of them. :)

Sorry for the Double Post, must have missed you. :)

We looked at that, we are doing that in oman now (with our mate out there).. Im glad other people have done/reccomend/survived this as most people i told were quite sceptical (they may just be pansies) :)

Went to Dubai and Abu Dhabi in October. Pretty much everything's been covered but:

- Go up the Burj Khalifa. Needs booking in advance
- Visit Dubai Mall (underneath Burj Khalifa)
- Go to the Old Town near the Gold Souk. Get a water ferry across for 1 AED
- Have Friday brunch. Very western and decadent but good fun. We did ours at the Westin
- Go on a desert safari. We stayed overnight too but not much need for that. We did ours with Orient Tours (http://www.orienttours.ae/)

Oh and you might be interested in my thread over in the photography section: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18466662

No worries! Have fun :)

Another tip... if you want to drink for the duration of your stay stock up just before you leave the airport, obviously this is alcohol that you would consume in your hotel room etc not in public.

Just looked back at my photos and apparently at one of the bars I went to a Bacardi breezer was £6  and a cocktail £9! This was at one of the beach clubs/bars think it was Barasti - which was also pretty good - though it reminded me a bit of a student night.

Have done dunebashing twice now, once with my other half and once with a group of friends. If you go out with a trained driver, you will be fine -it's terrifying but an incredible experience! I love it and am already planning out next trip out :)

Eat at burj al Arab if you aren't staying there

If you are going with a woman I would avoid the old town/gold souk. Nothing worth seeing and immigrant workers leering.

Atlantis water park
Burj khalifa
Emirates dune buggying
Mall of emirates and Dubai mall

Well, my own Dubai trip has gone belly up it seems, girlfriend checked her sons passport last night and saw it only has 4 months left on it, you need 6 months for entry, unless she can turn on the tears to get a new passport from him at the passport office today then Ill be staying home instead.

Gutted.

Harumph.
