I'm looking for a bike that is relatively simple to switch between road and race fairings, for trackdays. I've currently got an 04 ZX10r but honestly, it's a nightmare!

My old 916 was a doddle to convert (about 10 Dsuz fasteners and it pretty much all came off) so I was wondering if anyone has a 999 or 1098 who could comment on how easy the fairings/lights etc come off.

Somehow I got sign off from HQ to buy a Ducati. :D

A bit of a pain for the 1098, it's more like a Jap bike with multiple ordinary fasteners. I think there's a slightly awkward and not so obvious one near (under?) the side of the headlight, on either side of the bike.

Sorry, it's been nearly 5 years since I had one, Agnes is a more recnt owner that springs to mind. Dunno about the 999, I've only looked at them from a distance! :D

the 999 is pretty straight forward. ive got the s spec and to get side fairings off is 5 min job at most. 4 dzus fastners and two allen heads at bottom attatching both sides together. the nose i think isnt much more difficult. the rear on the s is a pain i believe but ive never done it.

if you have any questions or theres anything i can do to help with the 999 please ask. im no expert but ive had it for a couple years now

I use my 1098R on road and track , mostly track now though.

I changed the original fairing fasteners to dzus via a kit from Kurveygirl (google the name) and got a racing fairing bracket via ebay.

Removing lights is easy just unplug and loosen a couple of screws. I have my nose fairing all rigged up for quick change anyway , takes me around 5 mins.
