Hi Guys

You asked for it, We got it.

Shine III is the most requested peripheral product I have ever seen at OcUK. You guys are going crazy for it and it is so, so close. We are still on track for stock to arrive mid way through August and we have an order in place with Ducky already.

Pricing is £10 cheaper than we originally anticipated which is brilliant news for everyone looking forward to this launch.

The Shine III builds on the massive reputation of the Shine II and excels. The build quality, features and typing experience of each Ducky keyboard is always exceptional.

Take a look at the range here:

This video was an early showing of what Shine III is capable of doing.

depends what you want

there is a huge guide to mechanical switches in the peripheral section.

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18523430

I personally started out with Blue switches. tried black and brown and wasn't impressed and then tried reds and immediately swapped my blue board for a red one.

are you a gamer or typist
and do you want the switch to click or not?

Im a gamer predominantly fps and strategy / rpg so ranging from bioshock / crysis to diablo3 / starcraft

I currently use a cyborg 7 and have also in the past used a logitech media keyboard both of which have quite chunky keys i prefer something with a bit of feel to the keys rather than soft touch style keyboards where you hardly know theyve been pressed think piano keys over laptop keys something with a good solid feel

i would suggest black or red.

black has a much higher resistance though which is responsive for gaming.

i personally find it tiresome to type on black switches but i think that has more to do with my typing style.

The yots will not be on pre order here until there is an ETA. The problem is that we don't have a date for it. And neither do any other retailers. So we don't want to put it up for order until stock is guaranteed.

Ducky in the UK all comes from one distributor meaning that wherever you can pre order one from now will have it no sooner than OcUK anyway.

the demand for green is simply not high enough

i reckon if more brands start adopting Greens as a standard offering then it will maybe become an offering from our more specialist brands such as ducky and qpad but i cannot see it happening any time soon.

I am working with another brand at the moment [early days] and their stance is that they will not be making green boards available either.

you have to also remember that the only place that uses UK layout, is the UK.
this means that if demand is low, then it is further diluted by region.

so if a company do a green board in germany, they may not make it a UK offering as it involves a distributor committing to large qty.

i believe CM storm were considering a green switch offering

my personal feeling is that a green is only a slightly stiffer version of an MX blue.
it was designed for space bars which i kind of understand after using mx blue boards, but i feel that blues are good for typing on and making them stiffer would make it similar to black switches in the way that they would rebound quick [great for gaming and response] but they would get tiresome to type on [needing more actuation force]

a cherry green needs 80g of actuation force. with blacks [previously the stiffest MX switch] needing only 60g. this is a big difference. in fact, almost twice the force required for the more typing orientated red & brown switches.
as i am typing this out now on my mx red board, i am imagining pressing the keys twice as hard to activate them. that would be horrendous.

just my 2p but lets see how the market pans out.

as soon as there is greens available from a reputable/established manufacturer, then we will have a board with that feature in stock.

I am sorry, and I hope I don't sound like a tool. But that ugly space bar completely ruins the keyboard, would look 10 times better if it was just plain.

the Shine III will be shipping with a few different space bars for you to customise your board :)

Do you guys have a lot of stock coming in? I'm currently waiting on a switch sample kit to arrive in the next few days with the intention of getting a shine 3 once I know which switch I like best.

If you did sell out of the one I wanted would there be more stock arriving in the near future? Thanks

we have enough stock

but our distributor is able to get stock to us same/next day if we run low on a specific line :)

Anyone who pays £140 for a keyboard wants their head examined

why would this be?

sure, its a premium product.

however, your keyboard is your primary input device. some people spend more time typing on their pc that they do going out drinking.

a keyboard that costs £140 is something you get to keep and is the equivalent to three or four nights out.

the keyboard makes typing and using your computer a much more pleasurable experience. a mechanical board is like an SSD. once you have used one, you cannot go back.

people are happy to pay premiums if they want high quality or performance.

I have personally spent over £500 on keyboards in the past few years, but I spend a large chunk of my day at a computer so I want anything to make that more pleasent.

look at graphics cards for example, a high end card is £300+ and devalues by roughly a three figure sum every 12 months. yet durable and well built keyboard that will last you 5-10 years is poor value for money...

I would ask you to consider your posts a little more carefully.
