I fell fowl of that when I was 18 and had a holiday job in a furniture factory in Frome. Everyone started calling me **** and I got slightly paranoid, until they convinced me that it wasn't the same as willy.

There is no problem with English people using the word 'Dude'. Holly used it all the time in Red Dwarf and that's the future, so it still sticks around.
