I have just installed a AMD 5200+ x2 CPU and have noticed the core temps seam to be odd in that they are around 10c apart.

Core #0 is at 32c and Core #1 is at 40c (tested with core temp and HWmon)even under load they seem to be like this, is this normal? could it mean they require lapping? (CPU and heatsink)

I understand that the IHS could be uneven that's why i suggest lapping, I am currently using the stock heatsink and fan until i can afford a better cooler (note silent) should i bother lapping now or wait till i have the new HSF?

I'm a bit new to the duel core business (if you haddent guessed :))

In my test machine I have a 4600 X2 CPU which has been running for a year, and it registers the temperatures at 8 degrees difference between the two cores, so I would not worry about it.

Processor Temperature : 33 °C
Processor : Thermal Diode
AMD Athlon 64 X2 (Core 1) : 31.2 °C
AMD Athlon 64 X2 (Core 2) : 23.8 °C
