Duke Nukem 3D !

It is possible to get the original, unmodified version to work on XP. I did it, but it wasn't easy. Using a port is a much more simple way. All the high-res textures and 3d models are optional, so you can play it as if it was the original if you want.

P.S. you still need the original game to use the ports. The engine itself has been released into the public domain so is free. The actual content of the game isn't however, so you still need a copy of it.

THIS. IS. AWESOME! Brings back so many memories. Damn. How many weeks worth of hours did I spend playing this?

Only problem - when I die I can't restart the level. It says "Push Space to restart level" but nothing happens. Any ideas?

Have you changed any of the keyboard controls. It's whatever button is set to 'open' is used to restart.

I think it's cool. The graphics aren't great but it's better than playing the original, IMO :)

Has anyone got the mouse aim / mouse look to work on this game? I'm having real trouble :(

Those graphics look amazing in comparison to the sprite driven original.

yes, they do. but origional games like doom, quake and duke 3d are suppose to be dark and dindgy. came goes for carmageddon. sprites in the carma 1 such as the grandma were loads funnier and better than the crappy polygons in carma 2.

Furnace i had same problems with the mosue look etc. just make sure its Enabled in the options everything else is unbound on the mouse (Except Attack) thats how i got it to work.

Also having same problem when i die cant get the level to restart. I just save every so often then when i die reload the last save point. :D

are good. can play as origional then.

"It contains everything you need to play (except for "duke3d.grp" file, of course)"

so where can i get this file, do i need to buy the game again?

You need to have a copy of the game to get that file. If you don't have it you can still play the shareware version which is the first episode of the game.
