Anyway this is very much a teaser but it's confirmed by George Broussard over at the 3d realms forums as being in-game footage.

220% real I'm afraid. There's a 36 page thread over on the 3d realms site on it, and it's been added to the wiki.

I could see where you were coming from but it's been confirmed by the staff three times now. I beleive it's real but can see where the uncertainty comes from. Fact that it shows so little and is so small leads the mind to wander.

That's not proof though. You could be wrong. It's speculation / interpretation.

Anyway develpers said it was real. I'm inclined to believe them. I'll agree that it's a vague screenshot though, and it's no suprise that people will scrutinise it.

Thing is if this is indeed a true image I'd be inclined to think we're not too far from the completion point. Going with some of the talk on the 3dr forums it might not be too long before we have some more media.

That said the finished game could be another 10 years away.

I don't see why people get so heated about this. It's the closest thing we've had to a legitimate screenshot in the last 7 years and it's endorsed by the creators.

The only thing that's clear in that pic is Duke. Saying you can see a chair, a monitor and a thumb in there is pushing it imho, but fine if that's what you want to believe - just don't hammer people because they don't see it.

That's crap though, the only evidence you have that it's a fake is of the things you think you can see in it??

I'm just saying on the one hand we have the developers saying it's real and on the other hand we've got people disecting the image and saying it's fake.

I'd be the first one to roll over if someone in authority on DNF said it was fake, but their saying it's real. I don't see anything that might make it "a known fake" except the IQ.

I've been looking at some of the UT2007 models and they don't look too disimilar to the quality of duke in the smaller image.

edit: I only mean some of them, like single character shots.
