bought a dumbell set a while back from a wholesaler

went today to increase the weight so went to well know retailer that sells everything and has a catalouge not sure if they can be defined as a competitor.

bought 4 x 5kg cast iron discs thing is the hole for the dumbell bar is too small and the bar will not fit

is there a sizing standard? wondering if the retailer will accept the weights back

could some one please bring me up to speed on any size variations between discs? the dumbell set i bought was active branded is there variations between manufacturers?

didnt think that particular retailer did olympic DB/BB? but yes there are 2 sizes as stated above, however on most sites they are referred to as "standard" and "olympic". 2.5cm is "standard" size.

If youre gonna get into body building big time then get olympic size to begin with, i wish i had tbh.

The OP said he bought the bars from a wholesaler, but recently tried to buy some extra weights from the retailer.

think the dumbell set i bought may be an odd size :( roughly measuring the bar diameter its 2.7cm and the discs that came with it about 2.9cm hole diameter

annoying to say the least, think i may try and either get a refund or exchange for a proper 2.5cm dumbell set using the existing weight have from this set. with the larger hole diameter they may be slightly sloppy on the ner dumbell bar but should be usable
