Dune: Awakening

Lumen definitely makes a nice difference to internal lighting, Helps brighten a place up, Still needs some work though as in other places when there are certain lights shining it gets quite blotchy and weird looking.

Unfortunately this is the downfall of a software approach and not having ray reconstruction, it's the same with every ue 5 game using lumen software. Silent hill 2 and stalker 2 is a good example where even just adding ray reconstruction can sort out a lot of issues but as you mentioned, we won't be able to mod that in with this game. Still give me that over raster any day

Thankfully this is a live service game so who knows, It already has DLSS, DLAA and MFG so Ray Reconstruction may not be off the table.

I've been in beta since March and If you want a measure of how good I think the game is then it will be the 372 hours played in 3 months :D

I won't lie though, it's been challenging and some of the bugs we've had have been game breaking. Feeling a bit burnt out and worried that without extra content, those of us in beta will smash through to Tier 6 and DD so quickly.

For anyone not in beta and looking forward to launch, I envy your excitement and anticipation for Dune, It's truly an amazing game which I hope is successful and can grow beyond the content scheduled for 2025.

This might be a stupid question given that its Dune, but are there any other biomes? Its a genre of games I like but I think theres only so long that I can look at all that beige

At the moment, no. Although once you progress from the starter zone you make your way up north into the zones that are rocky. In the north west there is a zone with a bit of vegetation but on the whole it's very sandy.

This is most of the map bar the western areas, you progress from hagga basin south into the vermillion gap and then you will end up making your main base in the north near the shield wall most likely

In the expansion coming April next year we'll be venturing to the polar regions of Arrakis so it will be cold and not burn your face off hot but for the moment it's basically all sandstone and dunes but it's really beautifully done so it doesn't get old.

I'll wait for that expansion then, I dont doubt its beautifully done but only playing in one biome (whether its sand or forest or snow or swamp etc) starts to bore me after a while, I need a little more visual variety, so polar regions as well will make it more appealing, just for the change of scenery for a bit :)

There are testing stations which are underground facilities dotted around the map, there are also ship wrecks, enemy bases and then the rift which is a large tear in the map that spans from the east to the north and has 3 different levels deep into the ground housing mining facilities and other camps

I didn't know the beta was still going. Sounds like you've got quite far - has it not ruined the release for you?

I avoided the beta as I want a vanilla experience.
