Dune

Villeneuves dune is probably one of the most faithful book to film adaptations I have ever seen. Must not be for you then, i didnt feel there was a single wasted frame.

acting quality.

The Reverend Mother in the original acting had more fear in the scene , she was like One Flew Over a Cuckoos Nest nurse fletcher...the new one? way too soft, bleh, and new one box of pain thing? Didn't seem french actor acting in pain either. More like Spocks "pain"

look at the acting cast of the original....you had Das Boot captain . And the new one? Can't even recall the actor then you have guy from Stargate and GOT, sure he's got the big warrior thing going but not the acting to go with it. Dean Stockwell...Patrick Stewart...do I need to go on.

Literally Villeneuve he just got acting cast from TV series.

Cinematically Villeneuve version has better elements, thanks to CGI and bigger budget but it doesn't grab you. It also drags, it literally gives nothing new despite being 2x the run time.

Yes that scene is miles better in the original, hard agree. Also agree that the cast was better in the lynch version, although it may be nostalgia talking. the old baron really felt depraved, superbly cast. The modern dune did feel more faithful though, even the tempo was more akin to the style of the book that was slower and less operatic than more conventional sci fi. I cant really fault it.

Lynch's dune took so many creative liberties that i dont necessarily hate, but i do feel hold it back from being a better more faithful piece of media.

Once thing that does bear a mention though, Sting as Feyd was just sublime. Best thing that man has ever achieved.
