AcidHell2 said:i agree, mmo's seem tio be going backwards, not advancing.
character specialization/jobs seem to be decreasing.
Item creation/grafting seems to be decreasing
Player homes and items seem to be decreasing
the interactive moves seem to be decreasing rather than moving towards a fps style
graphics on most new mmo seem crap compared to mmo's a few years ago.
What is going on![]()

VeNT said:EVE Online is what I'll say.
one of the most hard core MMO games out there atm.
character specialization/jobs increasing
Item creation/grafting/crafting increasing
Player homes and items increasing
even MORE things to interact with (ie, everything, but don't expect to survive long if you go shooting everything as they tend to shoot back).
EVE is the MMOG for the discerning player
downloading this game
may be worth a bash for somthing to do during the downtime.
I feel that, now the new player experiance has been updated, you can start fresh in the game and compete with the big boys on a level pegging very quicklyAcidHell2 said:It is a good game, two flaws though,
1 you can't grind to add a few basic skills quickly as it's time based and two it's still click some icon not fps. I used to play, but as so many people had been playing for years, I felt it was a waste of time.

maybe you should give it another trial (unless the bigger issue was the icon stuff)
best way is to try it yourself,AcidHell2 said:You got a link that explains the new player thing?
The icon thing I can put up with, we really shouldn't have to really, it cant be that hard to make a true fps..
give us a shout ingameAcidHell2 said:Thanks VeNT just been on the eve site and got a 14 day pass. Just downloading client now, although have work in an hour.

Let me start by saying - it's naff. Really.
The UI is horrible. The graphics aren't great. The other players all sound like they are 11 years old. Most items can't be used unless you sign up to the $4.99 subscription, and the non membership weapons are generally naff.
That said, I played it up to about 8 levels worth of dungeon hacking. Each time I died and set forth again, I told myself that the next death would be the last before I switched it off. I found it very hard to actually do it!
I cannot understand the people who have signed up to the subscription for this game, it's really not worth it in my opinion, but worth the odd hour here and there as a bit of non thinking hacking and slashing.

I'll send you a buddypass (email in trust ok?) so you've 14 days to give it a go.
the whole startup process is faster, you start with 800k skill points and can be in cruisers/T2 frigs quite fast (within days) so PVP is available really quickly as well.
I've seen 2 day old players in combat ready T1 frigs that would be welcome in any gang.
the whole T2 lottery systems on its way out. being replaced by invention (still being tuned atm, loads of people moaning but will be better) so ANYONE can build T2 items now and make a profit
the tutorial has been refined so its not just "this is a roid, mine it, this is a NPC shoot it, good luck, have fun"
after the recent merger with white wolf they have LOADS more people writing the storyline stuff as well, so we can expect more in depth missions from agents, more RP events and even more pew pew!
