I suspect that this is somewhat of an impossible feat but as the title I'm looking for an inkjet printer scanner combo which can duplex and has some kind of network connectivity be it ethernet or preferably wireless.

To make matters worse the target budget is £40 - £60. Being able to scan film negatives and a brand that has cheap third party cartridges would be a bonus.

I've found wireless printers / scanners within the price range but sadly no duplexing which is a must - so if anyone has any ideas I'd be grateful.

Seems like it. Closest I can seem to manage is the Epson Stylus SX525WD which is around £90. Canon do one too around that price and a cheaper model which is about £70 but comes without the networking.

My printer does duplex printing & duplex scanning (through an ADF), and it also has ethernet conectivity, however it costs in the region of £160. It's a Canon MX7600 incase your interested.

Thanks for the recommendation. In the end I think I'll go for the Epson one above unless anyone has anything bad to say about Epson before I do so?

It seems to have the main features I'm looking for and it's only around £30 over budget.

I have an Epson printer and hate it. They use the stupid 4 seperate cartridges feature which just swallows ink like nobodys business. You also have to use the original epson ink otherwise your prints will look like a toddlers nursery finger painting. Not to mention the pathetic driver support.

This isn't just me flaming Epson because it's what i've heard. I have the DX6000 and it's terrible.

I have owned an array of printers over the years. Canon seem to be pretty solid.

I've got an Epson all in one effort here. It'll pull sheets of paper through an automatic feed for copying, but it's manual duplex only. It drinks ink and occasionally eats paper. I can't say I'd go anywhere near them if I had a choice in the matter, this particular device came free with my girlfriend.

At the other end, I've got a second hand hp laser (wired network), which doesn't seem to use any toner whatsoever, does duplex all by itself and is yet to eat a sheet of paper. That was the result of watching members market for quite a long time however. And it wont scan, or do colour. Definitely my favorite of the two.

I would recommend manual duplex as the way forward in your case, it's really not so bad.
