Duracell Ultra

Tried a couple of Duracell Plus batteries in my camera the other day.

Lasted for an incredible 4 shots until the low battery signal started flashing.

Energizer Lithium - At 30% less weight than alkaline, 8x the battery life of standard Energizer, Leak resistant and 15 year storage life, these batteries are proven to be the world's longest lasting batteries in high tech devices. For the explorer in you, they also operate at -40C and right up to 60C making them an excellent choice for GPS navigation in extreme places.

I know that's the blurb.....but have you actually tried these?

I think people that haven't should. They really are damn good! I was always a Duracell fan, because lets face it, everything else on the market was crap! But once I stared using LI batts, I wouldn't go back!

One of my guitar needs a 9V battery in it to work, I think it's a Energizer lithium, it's been in there 2 years and still running!

Don't Duracell actually do 4 different models?

Duracell (normal)
Duracell Plus
Duracell Ultra
Duracell M3

They have done for years.

I do not see why anyone buys non-rechargeable now, not since the emergence of Hybrid Ni-Mhs which hold their charge.

Other than buying a set in a pinch where you cannot recharge, what benefit is there?

Well that shows how cheap you are! ;)

Seriously! There are NO re-chargeable batteries out there with decent performance. I know you don't have to keep buying batteries, but have you really tried re-chargeables in a device that require a fair amount of power?

I kid you not, I can take hundreds (talking more than 500!) pics on an SLR with Lithium-Ion.

I could probably take 50 with re-chargeables.

Sure, I could carry a stock of them......but honestly I don't have the space and time to keep changing them.

Have you tried Hybrio/Eneloop batteries?

Get a Decent DSLR that takes a proper battery, not a load of AA's!;)

I take it you have a Sony? My Canon battery lasts around 500 shots as well, then I use my second £8 one when that runs out, unfortunately the card is normally full before I need it.:p

clearly you have yourself some rubbish rechargeable batteries:)

I've got a few sets of standard calumet 2700mAh batteries that i use in my DSLR/flashgun. excellent in the flash, ultra fast recycle times and they last for many many shoots, loads better than standard AA's and I'm sure they're on a par with your Lithium Ions. I'd recommend getting a decent set online, not some useless ones from b&q for your toothbrush.

Have you tried Hybrio/Eneloop batteries?

Nope. What's good about those? (genuine question)

Also, how do they compare price wise? I mean, I'm all for good batts, but the price point is important (hence why some people buy crap and others buy top brand which last well).

I suspect these Hybrio/Eneloop are superb, but if I have to re-mortgage the house it might be kinda pointless.

And when you read what I posted, it just goes to show that Duracell produce 4 types of battery to simply suit people budgets. Even if it can be false economy.

In fact, me suggesting Lithium's might also be false economy compared to these Hybrio/Eneloop things, but if you can't afford them, you can't afford them. :)

I think there should be a few standard tests, One test to see how long you could transmit an infrared signal from a remote. And one to see how long they last in a strenuous activity.

If there was a body available that would do that for all types of batterys you could then decide what battery has best value for money. You might decide to use the more expensive one for your camera, but go with tesco value for remote etc.

Our Ultimate Lithium (Energizer) are the longest lasting on the market :)

Duracell in terms of Alkaline do Plus and Ultra (Ultra used to be called M3), they also sell PowerPix, which only lasts 3x longer than Alkaline and comes no where near our Lithium brand in high drain devices.

We also do a brand known as "Ultimate" which is a premium Alkaline and this was also highly rated in the latest Which? consumer report.

Oh, we're also the NUMBER 1 battery brand globally - not Duracell. :)

Also i think they should produce packaging for single baterys, the amount of time i've just needed one. The others just lie about and then you forget if they are charged or uncharged, then you have to buy more because checking them all would be a royal pita.

The main thing is that the rate of self discharge is much lower, so they're not going flat sat in your bag, so they will likely last longer once they make it into your camera.

They're not much more expensive than regular re-chargeables.
