Next door are going to be having their entire house re-pointed tomorrow which means cement dust everywhere.

Is this likely to cause paintwork issues, from what I have seen they will be using something along the lines of an angle grinder and have warned us it's going to be very messy.

Do I need to cover my car up?

It certainly wouldn't hurt to cover your car up or park it somewhere out of the way. I had the front of my house re-pointed a couple of years ago and can confirm the dust goes _everywhere_. It does depend how lucky you'll be with the prevailing wind, though.

If it does get on the car be careful when you wash it off too. Give it a spray down with a foam gun to lift the dust off before cleaning it.

Move it until they are done.

I have this morning but it's a lot of messing around as we don't have on road parking & the nearest place to park is over a mile away behind gates that are locked 30 mins before I finish work.

When I had my house repointed. I went round the neighbouring 3 houses each side and hosed off their cars....and their windows....and their driveways. Each night for 3 nights.....

Then I gave them all a ticket for a free wash and valet..

I'm nice like that...Well that and they had to put up with a full back to brick renovation

Don't cover it, when the dust gets between the cover and the car it'll just make more mess.

It won't hurt the paint. It shouldn't even be a pain to clean off. But it's probably best to park elsewhere.

They have almost finished the work and to be honest the dust is not that bad, although the wind has been blowing the opposite way.

I took my car & parked it in the yard at the taxi company the Mrs's dad owns then walked to work over the last 2 days.

It's staying on the driveway tomorrow uncovered as it's currently pretty breezy out there, I was worried about it actually etching into the lacquer or something but it looks like an extensive pre-wash hose down at the weekend will sort it out.
