Dustbinmen, you all suck

Nope, we've still got metal dustbins and the binmen come and get the rubbish out of them. Actually to be fair our binmen are quite good :)
same for me in SW London, and our bin men are quite good. Always seem happy to take extra bin bags sitting on the floor outside of the dustbin :).

Your'e under the mistaken assumption that a good number of posters on here give a flying toss about anyone but themselves :(

Nah mate, I'm under no illusion regarding the attitude of people. It's not just on here though. It's another symptom of the degradation of peoples attitudes towards each other.

I'm not normally one for harking back to the "good old days" but people did seem to have a lot more consideration for each other in the 70s when I was growing up. Oddly enough, the trend seemed to start on a downward slope during Thatcher's reign of terror when people were encouraged to do whatever it took to be successful and screw everyone else.

I gave my binmen some cans of strongbow and they whacked an old desk into the back of the lorry for me, good guys.
I don't actually have a dustbin, hardly anyone in my street does, binmen seem to take everything.
Recycling guys look really peed off at the amount of empties I put out, especially after parties. One week i put something like 12 bags of glass bottles out.

If the binmen don't take my bin, or I forget to put it out, I just ring the council and they send a van round to take it away, usually within a couple of hours.

Have you tried that?

Dustmen can be predantic sods at times. Mine insist that I leave my bin blocking my neighbours drive. If I move it two feet to the right to allow my neighbour access the refuse to take it.

I phoned the council and explained the problem and the response was utterly ridiculous. I had to fill out a mountain of forms, have visits from enviromental health and the Highways agency only to be told they must stay were they are. Utterly pathetic.

We just put binbags (supplied) out on a Tuesday morning and they will take the lot by lunchtime, I really prefer this to having an ugly stinking wheelie bin outside the house like we used to have at our old house. The rubbish is collected every week. We have a recyling box for cans & glass and another for paper, both of which are collected every 2 weeks. If you leave extra cardboard etc outside of the recycling box they will take that too - unlike where we used to live where if the cardboard came over the top of the box they would chuck it out onto the pavement!

Our binmen are polite, clean and friendly too. Thanks South Bucks Council. :)

We moved from a labour council area to a Conservative one, I wonder if that made a difference too.

Well that is crazy, and I am speaking as someone who sets up the collection polices, I can understand if the bin is overflowing and the lid is wide open but to reject that is beyond crazy.

One question you should all ask when you are buying a house 'What day/time do the binmen come?' i should have asked it about mine, 9:30am every Saturday morning! No lie in for me, boohoo. Probably wouldn't of made a difference but the houses a bit further down the estate get emptied on a friday, so might have taken more of an interest there as they are pretty much the same layout.

Why don't you put your bin out friday night?

Then you get your lie-in.

They pull up right outside my house, the bin wagon is about 20ft away from my bedroom window then. Not something you can really sleep through as it revs away lifting and emptying the bins with all the **** falling in and being compacted also.

:( No lie in on a saturday for nearly 3 yrs, excpet the odd Xmas day but that doesn't count.

If my black bin slightly overflows, don't be a bunch of ***** *****s and refuse to sling it in your poxy van. And you all wonder why you get the tiniest amount of respect. Thanks making me having to use that one bin for a month's worth of waste now.

Losers.

No swearing

Gilly
