Bah! I need a faster CPU.:(

In the process of encoding a 2.5GB MPEG to a 700MB Xvid file. Started at 5.30pm and its still going lol

Just as I moan, it finishes. 3.5 hours later.

What CPU do you have?

Wow 3.5 Hours, quite a while. I have recently bought a Opteron 165 and 2GB RAM so i am hoping to be faster than that ... lol

Quite long but I think a straight DVD rip was a lot quicker. The one I just done was a 2.5 hour video file.

Don't think the RAM will make a massive difference tbh. Timings would but not size.

Its all about the CPU speed. The Opteron is dual core so that will help massively. I'm only on a single core lol

It only takes 5 minutes to compress a DVD movie! that's not file rip to file rip with no re-shrinking, that's a 6GB main movie to 4.4GB! Helps I have two hard drives, with source 8GB ISO on one drive, and destination ISO on the other drive.

Blinding fast, it took several hours on a laptop.

I was not aware that this is possible. What about and region encoding etc? Is this a new feature? I am not using the latest version.

Thats for a personal DVD, ie one without copy protection such as one made using a DVD recorder. I don't know what version I am using, I've had it for a while.
