Hi, I have been wrecking my brains for months now with this DVD drive in my computer. It is a Sony DVD re-writer drive and it just refuses to play DVD movies for me. I have tried various players and the same windows error message appears. If it helps the error signature is:

AppName: wmplayer.exe AppVer: 11.0.5705.5043 ModName: iviaudio.ax
ModVer: 3.1.91.42 Offset: 00004b85

I've tried lots of disks and it does the same thing and now my laptop does the same thing too so I don't know if it is something i'm doing wrong or just windows XP on both machines.

Thanks

Matt

If its going wrong on both machines then I doubt its a hardware issue. More likely to be drivers, software or even a virus of some kind.

PK!

Have you installed the same software/codecs on both machines?
If yes wipe all the media players / codecs off and start again. Keep it simple with codecs would be my advice.

I just reinstalled windows on my PC yesterday to try and resolve the problem as I thought it had something to do with installing the drivers so there are no codecs installed at the minute and it's still not working.

My laptop played a DVD for me the other day but then stopped playing them afterwards. Both have their own licenced version of windows installed. I've tried updating media player and everything but no joy. Could it be that my DVD drive is broke?
