DVD playing software

hey guys, what is the best software (preferably free) to use to watch DVDs on your PC, with no region restriction?

I used to use VLC media player but since updating it to the latest one it won't let me watch DVDs anymore.

i bought anydvd, they update it all the time, and it plays anything in all players (decodes them on the fly for you)

i use media player classic to play them

Really? The new version of VLC doesn't allow this? I really am tempted to roll back now. :/
