ive just had to re-install windows, and since then ive not been able to watch any dvds in colour, they only turn up in black an white. im using windows media player classic with added codecs eg ffdshow, real alternative, quick alternative etc. i even installed a crappy dvd player prog and it still showed in black/white. any ideas?

Try PowerDVD - free trial at http://www.cyberlink.com/multi/products/main_1_ENU.html it comes with its own codecs which have always worked for me.

got it and tried it, no difference.

hmm, before reading your post i was going to type..

-use mpc + ffdshow

have you got video card drivers installed?, what is the desktop colour set to?

get ffdshow from here (its updated) http://www.free-codecs.com/FFDShow_download.htm

-select 'Reset all FFDSHOW settings' during setup

all drivers are up to date. destop colour is currently blue. ive got that version of ffdshow..... maybe thats the problem, before i re-installed windows i had a previous version of ffdshow?!?!

sorry i mean the desktop colour depth,

right click desktop, properties, settings, colour quality (set it to 32bit)

possibly try reinstalling graphics card driver

msi geforce nx 6200

:edit:

problem solved. re-installed gfx drivers then re-installed all codecs and media player.
