I just bought Kung Fu Season 1 but my Macbook won't play it. There aren't any scratches on the discs but they are double sided. This is the first time I've tried to play a DVD like this so I'm assuming that this is what's causing the problem. VLC says there's an error when trying to play it. DVD Player crashes (like it does with just about every DVD I throw at it). Only Front Row will play it but I want to watch it windowed so I can use other programs simultaneously. Any suggestions for other software that I can try?

I don't think so. My Macbook's less than 6 months old. During that time I've ripped hundreds of CDs and dozens of DVDs without any noticeable problems. I'm hoping it was just a temporary glitch. VLC can be a little buggy from time to time. Does it sound like a faulty drive to you? I'm covered by AppleCare so it shouldn't be a problem if it is.

Well, it doesn't really, given the fact that it's limited to those discs.

Maybe the discs are bad.
