DVD to AVI

Could anyone recommend a good solid, straightforward, programme for converting DVD to AVI? And preferrably free.

Guys, I'm being really dull. Could someone point me int he direction of a guide as struggling a bit. Want to be able to put my dvd in pc, select output etc then hit go. Will handbrake do this?

I don't seem to get far with autogk, shall have another go tomorrow. I think I'm just being really thick! Do I need to run anything with autogk to convert a dvd to get round protection?

dvd decrypter and autogk is my 1st choice,use handbrake 2nd choice, if you dont mind paying and want it simple then try clonedvd mobile with anydvd.

I know its DVD to MKV but may be useful for someone? Semes you can make a full backup of both DVD and Blu-Ray in just 2 clicks!

i prefer the full Gordian Knot (not autogk) as you have loads more options but if you want something simple then thats not the one to go for

Yep. Blu ray is copy protected though, so you need to get around that. DVDFab is the only one I've got to work. Full DVD fab BR backup, MakeMKV it, then encode in handbrake.
