dvdrom disappeared!

hey!

i just reinstalled win7 ontop a laptop. When the install was finished i went to use a driver cd and the dvdrom wouldnt read the disc. I checked device manager and it said that the device was working properly and it had the best drivers. i tryed something else and it said the device could not be found and it has disappeared from My Computer, its only the hdd in there now no icon for dvdrom.

any ideas? :confused:

What brand laptop is it? Try downloading the chipset drivers from the manufacturers website.
