I've not done anything like this before so I'm not sure what would be the best way to go about it.

I've got a Buffalo Terastation live 2TB for network storage, I'm looking to put all my DVD's on this so I can put the discs up in the atic out of the way.
I would imagain just copying them to the terastaion would very quickly fill it up as I've got a couple of hundred DVD's, what would be the best way to compress the DVD for storage so I can access them form my Dlink DSM520 and watch them on my TV.

Thanks

You would need to encode them to a format like DivX, allowing each film to be scaled down to around 700mb while retaining near DVD quality.

The MSM520 supports quite a few different codecs, so it depends on whether you want to RIP the DVD's and re-encode them to a different format, or keep them as DVD.

Personally I have a mixture on my PC for use with my 360. Some films are re-encoded to WMV using TMPGENG Xpress, though this is very processor intensive and I can only convert one film each night. The other option I use is to use DVDshrink to strip out the menus, alternative languages, subtitles, and bonus materials, this drop the size to around 4.5 gig.
