DVI-D input not detecting anything.

I just bought a NEC MultiSync 24WMGX3 24" and when I plug in the DVI cable it doesn’t seem to pick up the input in the graphics card (8800 GTX) just says 'No signal'. Don't know why this is and wondering if anyone could help me on this, I plugged in the VGA cable and that works fine using a converter to DVI on my graphics card so the D-SUB input is working fine.

I've also tried both plugs in my graphics card and tried 2 different DVI cables.

Not switching between them I’ve just tried them both and VGA is working so I’m using that, they aren’t plugged in at the same time, but even if they were they should both be working at the same time anyway

He means are you switching the mode on the monitor from VGA to DVI?

Oh right, yeah I am and the DVI-D input just says No signal.

That's weird. It doesn't seem to be your monitor, if a VGA-DVI adapter works. It doesn't seem to be the cable, as you've tried two, and it doesn't seem to be the graphics card, if neither of the outputs work. The only thing I can think is that you have either two dodgy cables, or both the DVI slots on your GPU aren't working, neither of which seem likely.

Yeah I really don't know what the hell is up with it, i'm pretty sure it isnt my graphics card, cause it works fine with the VGA-DVI adapter, i'll try another DVI cable and see if that works. But yeah it's really werid.

use DVI-I dual link cable (VGA <> DVI-I)

Only use DVI-I cable when you are certain that the monitor socket is DVI-I, as a DVI-I connector will not fit in a DVI-D socket. DVI-D connector will fit in both DVI-D and DVI-I socket.

Have you rebooted the PC after plugging the DVI cable in? DVI is not always enabled, and you may need to reboot to initialise it.

Omg! I cannot believe I never tried rebooting the computer after I plugged it in, just tried this and it worked right away! Thank you! :)
