Got an XFX xtreme editon 7800gt. I want to connect it to my CRT tv which has component in, and i gather that if i want to use a straight forward DVI to component lead, then the DVI must output an analogue signal, which in turn means it must be DVI-I(?). So before i buy a lead, does anyone have one of thse cards and know if it is DVI-I?.

thanks

joe

My XFX 7800GT came with Component tv-out leads (the 7 pin s-video) I would have thought your's would to?

The card should be DVI-I, an easy way to check this would be to use one of the provided DVI-VGA adapters and see if it works like that on your existing monitor.

I just connected a X1800XT via S-Video 2 Component and the quality at 720p/1080i is top notch!! Pro Evolution 5, Call of Duty 2, FEAR all look amazing.

Well I've just bought a DVI-I > Component cable, so I'll see if that works before looking for a new card. Not sure it'll work with a Geforce 6200 though.

Should do, I've connected my HTPC with a 6200 with a DVI-I cable to my projector, and it works with either DVI-A or DVI-D signal.
It should work with 99% of modern cards.

Well I get the option of 1280x720 if that is what you mean, but it does recognise and install the monitor as an Optoma HD72i. I haven't really checked for any other settings differences.
