DVI Resolution Problem

For some reason I cant get 1440x900 to work over the DVI connection on my new monitor (LG L194WT)

The resolution on the nvidia control panel will go to the native res, but the monitor will only go to 1280x960. This means that i have to "scroll" horizontally to be able to go to the start button or the clock area.

It doesn't seem possible to change any of the settings in the OSD either.

Any suggestions.

P.S. This problem doesn't occur when being used through VGA

I've done that, not sure if it made no difference or it actually created the problem though.

I might reinstall windows again and find out.

Installing the monitor drivers should enable the resolution you want that is specific to the monitor (e.g. I had to install drivers in XP so i could select 1920x1200 for my 2407 - before I could only go up to 1280x1024)

You shouldn't have to go into the nvidia CP, just go to the Display Properties > Settings Tab and change the resolution there

I've had a similar problem since switching to an nvidia card - several resolutions which used to work fine on my ATI card, namely 1280*800 and 1440*900, simply aren't in the list of available resolutions on my new 8800 GTS. I've checked my monitor definitely does those resolutions, and they do appear in the list and work through VGA, just not through DVI. I was able to create 1280*800 as a custom resolution in the nvidia control panel and it seems to work. When you set a custom resolution it does a test and it did keep failing the test, until I tried the other timing options (auto didn't work but one called 'GMT' or something did work). May well work with 1440*900 too.

Thanks for the advise lads. :)

Well it seems to be either the 7 series drivers, or the card itself, as I've just bought an 8600gt and it doesn't have any problem whatsoever with displaying the native res over DVI.
