I have moved my 37" LG 1080P TV from my bedroom for use with my gaming pc, but I am having a few problems that I think are due to the DVI - VGA adaptor; I'll explain...

If I connect my PC via this method (DVI-Vga adaptor & VGA cable), the max resolution I can get is 1440x900

If I connect another PC with the same cable, I have the same problem.

If I connect my 24" monitor with the same cable, I have the same problem.

But If I attach the 37" TV back to my HTPC in the bedroom which is connected by a vga - vga cable, then I can get 1920x1080 as a resolution.

Is the DVI - Vga adaptor limiting the max resolution?

The DVI - Vga adaptor doesn't have all the pins on the DVI side if that helps...

I do have a DVI - HDMI adaptor & cable, but VGA is a little sharper for whatever reason

Any help would be appreciated :)

If I were you, I'd connect via the DVI-HDMI adapter + cable. The digital signal should make it look better than VGA and at the very worst they will look just as good as each other.

You may have to mess around with the ATI overscan settings in the catalyst control centre to get it to display correctly. This thread shows how to find the overscan settings.
