Registered my interest in a plate with the DVLA, clearly no one had previously registered and interest as the plate wasn't made available etc.

After 6 months DVLA has made the plate available and put it up for auction. It's nothing unique so I was surprised to see the number (and value) of bids it attracted, is this just a case of reseller sites hedging their bets and buying up plates for potential future profit?

Other people clearly see value in it as well, for whatever reason.

I occasionally browse the auctions, and finally this time around they have 2 reg with my initials. One is £1,900 the other is almost £5k. So yeah, f that noise.

In the end, it sold for other 1k. Whilst other very similary plates either didn't sell (no bids) or sold for very little.

I wonder if myself placing an early bid triggered some reseller bots to win it, will keep checking listing sites to see if this pops back up.
