DX 10 stuff in Bioshock

Well until I can use my X-Fi in Vista properly I'll be sticking with XP.

Does it not work properly? I have X-Fi with 64bit Vista here and it works perfectly fine.

Maybe you should use the latest drivers. I don't have any slowdowns with catalyst 7.10 in DX10.

vista doesnt support/like EAX........sound just plays in normal stereo when using a X-fi.
there is a work around for this...alchemy drivers or something like that.
i dont have vista installed(anymore) or a x-fi so best to ask someone who knows more about it if you want to know more.

CPC(custom pc) done a test ..XP Vs Vista and in every game XP managed to equal or better the fps recorded in Vista ...apart from one which was stalker i think.

im not surprised at all by the result as when i had Vista installed every game ran slower...i could live with a small drop in fps as Vista itself is pretty nice but it was the damn mouse lag.....the mouse in games just never felt the same 100% sharp and responsive like it does in XP.

Sorry forgot to mention I am using the latest 7.10 driver in vista.

Maybe the slow down is due to moving from XP -> Vista and not so much from DX9 -> DX10.

I played DX9 in XP and it ran 100+ FPS but when I play DX10 in Vista it was averaging hlaf that.

I shall try DX9 mode in vista and see if I get 100+ FPS again.

There's meant ot be a proper fix for it, though when it's coming I'm not sure.

ATi have crap Dx10 drivers at the moment, that's why you're getting such low FPS.

Surround sound works fine with vista and xfi in all games including biosock. Granted eax doesn't due to directsound being removed. This however has nothing to do with 5.1.
