DX10 doesn't drive the card hard enough!

Hi,

I ran Crysis Warhead benchmark yesterday with ATI Tool monitor on.

When I ran DX9 mode, 1680x1050 0xAA 0xAF i got 50fps max 45 avg.
Both GPUs ran almost at 100%, as the ATI Tool monitor's graphs showed.

When I ran the DX10 mode, same res, same AA and AF, I get 11max, 8 avg.
What I noticed was that each 4850 barely ran at 50%. They were near 46-47% on the graph.

Is this a specific bug in Crysis? What I noticed was I believe that 3DMark Vantage is also DX10? And Vantage runs like poo too! I get like P5000 with my rig, which is just unacceptable. The only other game that I run in DX10 is LOTRO, and it seems fine at 1680x1050 with 4xAA.

Please shine a light on this matter, thanks.

LOL :D

Ho does Crysis actually run? Does it look & play fine? If so don't worry about the damn benchamrk scores! Everyone has gone score crazy! I don't give a hoot what my set-up 'scores' are. All I want to know is that my games are running okay. They are & my set-up didn't cost all that much, which scores quite highly in my book ;)

That's the thing I noticed. When Vantage ran like POO I just shook it off saying it's just a benchmark, but I actually tried playing Crysis in DX10. It was, in fact, very poo. Very dissappointed. There must be something wrong. I just can't figure out what it is.

You should be getting way higher FPS in Crysis, and way higher scores in Vantage. Something is definitely wrong. Make sure you have the latest drivers, or try different ones.
Also get the latest DirectX update...

It's starting to frustrate me. I've tried disabling Crossfire with Cat 9.2, and funny thing is it is actually little more slower.

I am yet to try with only one 4850 in there. I am going to try it after work. See if that fixes things. Oh, and yeah i'll try updating DirectX again.

It does seems to be a crysis problem with ATI. When I ran crossfired 4850s I also noticed only around 50-60% gpu usage. With one card it rose to aorund 75%, but still wasn't 90-100%. Ive never tried to monitor crysis with my GTX280 to compare.

he said he has 9.2

ive been having issues recently too what happens if you install just the driver no ccc what do the read out tell u?

i seem to get completely different info on my graphs depending on if i have ccc installed or not?!

Maybe kpanic doesn't have the latest drivers, because I know ATI was having a bit of trouble on Crysis at one point.

I've got 9.2.

OK. Went home, removed one 4850, ran the benchmark, still the same thing. I get a single digit performance when running Crysis at DX10, or barely over 10 fps in Vantage's first benchmark (Jane Ayre?) I got disgusted and turned off my computer... :(

I re-installed DirectX before doing that, so that elimiates that possibility too. My Vista install is only about 6 weeks old. The only thing left to do is reinstall Vista. I might install Win7 and try on that. But I am running out of options. GPU-Z and Everest reports PCIe at 8x linked, there's nothing running in the background. I don't know what to do.
