Hey guys,Wierd situation just...i heard this beeping from my system and thought wth so i listend carfully to find out where it was comming from and it sounds like my 250GB WD that has my games and apps installed on.

It was beeping and i could hear the drive spin then stop,HDD activity light was on constant.

I checked in "My computer" and the disk had dissapeared, checked in HDTune and it was also missing from there.

Weird thing now though,Beeping has stopped,Drive has showed up again and according to HDTune the drive is healthy....not got any warning from S.M.A.R.T in windows either.

What you guys think?

EDIT-Just done a long Generic test using Seatools and it says the drive failed the test. :/

Does the Seatools work in WD drives? Thought it might have been for the seagate hardware only?

Anyway when my last WD drive died , unfortunately for me i had SMART disabled so when it starting acting up, I was unaware of problems until it actually died, lost lots of data. If i recall correctly Windows logged in event viewer warning there was multiple entries of read/write problem and imminent failure. Have you tried running Disk analyse from Compuer Management > Derag seciton?

So if it a physical thing it may have some signs there, also is it making any louder noises than normal? Mine starting clicking and stuff. Probably best to backup data from that drive just in case.

Hey guys,Sorry i mean "Seagate 250Gb" Not WD 250Gb. :/

Its a 250Gb Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm Sata2.

Ive been using my pc half of last night, and throughout the day today installing stuff to the drive etc and ive not had any problems so far,S.M.A.R.T is enabled on the drive and ive not had any warnings.

I re-ran all the diagnostic tests in the Seagate tools and it passed them all now .
Very wierd.

Did it 'repair' the drive? If so.. honestly i'd still look to RMA it citing random errors if Seatools still passes it.

Not that im aware of,All i did in Seatools was run the diffrent scans, never selected to fix anything...could not see any option to anyway.

Still not had any issues so far,Really wierd issue.

I know i could RMA it as its still under warrenty,Problem is if they find nothing wrong with it you have to pay for them to ship it back + some charges i think,Plus i think you have to sent it to them at your expence in the firt place...if thats the case might aswell buy a new drive.

I can get a brand new 250GB WD Caviar SE for £19.

I would probably look into getting one of those nice WD Black 64mb cache drives though since i load my games into this drive.
