anyone know how the Dyson V6 - £189 compares to the DC44 Animal

I bought the DC44 ages ago and it was great but I think it was nearer £400, wondering why this V6 is so cheap?
It's the cheapest cordless Dyson out just now

I don't think there's much in it. It's the same as DC59 for comparison, but it's £169 at Tesco until the 4th as they are running an offer of £20 off for £150+ spend on electricals.

If you're thinking of buying one, go onto the Dyson live chat on their website.

Tell them you're thinking of buying one. Then say that you currently own some old model, they'll give you a discount, and have free next day delivery.

Recently bought a V6 Absolute for ~£250 using this method.

I do have an old DC04, so didn't require any lies :)

I bought a v6 direct from dyson. Maybe it's on offer - seems to be.
Seems to be really good :) It replaced a something animal (might be the 44) that started to die on me.

I'm really tempted by a V6, but I have such a tiny flat that there's really no need to splash out on an expensive vacuum. :(

I've gone cordless and I wouldn't go back, even more so with a small space. By the time your done unwinding your cord I'll be half way through the hoovering.

yupp, it's ideal for just doing 1 room or even hoovering up crumbs/dirt from shoes etc before it gets trampled in to the carpet
unlikely you'd get the corded hoover out to do little things like that

With two cats and a dog, we've found the V6 awesome. It's so easy to just grab off the wall and whip round quickly to get the hair up that it gets used every day, whereas getting the corded hoover out every day was a ball ache so it didn't get done as often. We got ours from the Dyson Outlet, I think it was around £170.

Actually, mine is the Total Clean. Rep is £300
I'm not sure whether to go for the V6 Total Clean or the V8 Absolute, the V8 has the same attachments, however the V8 has the 150% motorised tool, V6 Total Clean 75%.

Do you find the V6 easy to empty? I know they improved it with the V8. I can get the V6 Total Clean for £210 on Dyson Outlet or V8 for around £396 from AO with cashback.

The difference among the Dyson v6 versions: (Taken from TechKing's review on Amazon)
Standard - has a 20w motorhead attachment, this is the weakest of the series and a crevice tool.

Animal - wider motorised cleaner head attachment as the standard? In addition it has a mini motorhead for pets.

Fluffy - has all the above and one additional soft brush attachment specifically designed for bare / hardwood floors.

Total Clean - has all the above but a more powerful 35w direct-drive cleaner head - which replaces the standard 20w motorhead.

Absolute - has the mini pet tool as above, a more powerful 50w direct-drive than the Cleaner, and oddly, a very plain / simple attachment with silicon wipes for hardwood floors instead of soft brush attachment. In addition it has a Hepa filter at the motor exhaust - this also makes it a little heavier. All this will make the battery work a lot harder than the lower end versions.

Motorhead - released for the USA market only, so ignore it - Dyson only give warranty on UK versions, they won't even give warranty on any products for the European market - Dyson know by the serial number.

Tbh, I didn't want to spend over £200, the jump to ~£400 was too much :o

It fills up quicker than you may think (since the 'full line' is about quarter of the size of the container.

The first time round, we had to empty it a 3 or 4 times (it had been over a week since last clean). Now we do it every day or two and 1 fill will do the whole place. Unless the cat goes on a hair shedding frenzy.

Yeah I felt the same, I ended up ordering the Dyson V6 Total Clean for £210, should be here by Friday. :)

I got one of the V6 a few months ago, best domestic electrical item i have bought in years.

I now vacuum a lot more, I just grab it to pick up any little thing, clean my car, dust on sofa.

There's a dyson outlet on ebay which sells refurbished ones, was planning on getting one from there when I move at the end of the year.

Mine arrived on Friday, it came in a black box with the Dyson logo on. Everything inside appears brand new.

Refurbished warranty is supposed to be only 1 year, upon registering my Dyson V6 Total Clean, it gave me the full 2 years, same as a brand new one lol. :)

I bought a v6 absolute a few months back. It was around the £340 mark at the time. There was about £50 difference between each of the different models available. £189 sounds like a good price, but it depends on the model being offered, as the attachments make a big difference and as far as I'm aware they are not interchangeable between models.

It's a brilliant device but I do have reservations regarding battery life and emptying. These issues appear to have been tackled with the v8. I'm still more than happy with it though.

It does fill up quickly and I'm not sure if the v8 has improved the capacity.

I would never go back to a corded vacuum and my old corded dyson is quite literally gathering dust (no pun intended but if there is one it's courtesy of Tim Vine).
