You can buy the brush part on eBay and it's a fairly simple job to pop the old one out. I've taken ours out a few times to clean it properly and it only takes a couple mins.

We picked up a V6 Animal from the refurb eBay store last week. Managed about 30 seconds of cleaning before I assume the battery flattened and it stopped functioning except for a flashing blue LED which I understand is the battery dead indicator. Plugged in the charger only to find it does nothing and the battery LED does not come on at all. Spoke to support who said the charger must be faulty so they are sending us a new one, as well as a free accessory kit (supposedly worth ~£50?) as a means of apology.

Indeed! It was this comment to Dyson that got me the accessory kit. The guy said what has likely happened is that the V6 has been tested, but the 'engineers' have used their own desk power supply for all.
Yeah the run time of up to 20 mins along with the smallish dust bin wouldn't suffice for when the wife is on a mission and wants to blat the whole house. However for doing a few rooms at a time or the stairs etc I am hoping it is going to be great.
