Dyson v8 worth it over v6

Just wondering from those that have used the two but is the v8 £200 premium over the V6 worth it? Both absolute models.
On paper it lasts twice length on battery, has a slightly stronger sook but I think that's it.

Tempted by a high street offer on the V6 you see
 
Is it for use as a main cleaner or secondary cleaner?

If a secondary cleaner, I would say get the V6 then use the £200 for a Miele.

it's also a bit quieter with a change to the sound getting ride of the whine - something that you can only understand if you have a v6 or prior model.


it lasts longer, is more powerful, has a redesigned roller too.

We have the v6 and it's great but if I had to buy now I'd consider the v8.

When you say "but that's it" I don't know what more you expect from a cordless vacuum cleaner as all we can ask for is that it lasts longer, is more powerful on each new iteration.

For me it struggles to justify the extra 200 quid the v6 is brilliant and has received great reviews I've not read anything about the v8 that makes it seem worth the extra!
 
Have had a v8 absolute for a couple of weeks and love it. Now used as main cleaner and it does the job in a 5 bed house, old Dyson dc19 animal hasnt been used since. The roller for hard floors is great (helps in our house as all of downstairs is slate or wood
 
Won a V8 and sold it for £280.

We have thick pile carpets and the less than 8 minutes battery life on full power is not enough for a large family IMO.

Shark do a wonderful and more powerful corded stick cleaner for much much less money.

It's not really designed to replace a conventional vac in my opinion more to work alongside it for quick clean-ups when you can't be bothered getting the proper machine out and for the stairs and the car!

Likewise! Would never pay full price for one though as it's effectively a backup vacuum. The big vacuum still gets pulled out for the proper clean but the Dyson is great with two cats and a dog as we can whip round with it quickly and keep things looking relatively clean.
 
V8 Absolute currently on offer direct from dyson for 399 with a free 12"fan supposedly worth 250 and when i phoned up to buy one i was given an extra 20 for an existing customer. (Didn't have to give a serial number). Not a bad deal i think.

I got a V8 a couple of weeks ago and it will replace a DC10 upright as our vacuum. For a small-ish 3 bed terrace with hard floors and a large rug downstairs and carpets upstairs it's perfect. The charge lasts more than enough to do the whole house and some daily cleanups. It's also really quiet.

Nearly pulled the trigger on this last week. Missus okayed the purchase after the offer ended unfortunately.. :(
 
IF you need a small hand-held, then much more manouverable (and aesthetic), get a Ryobi cordless vac with the lithium battery pack for probably 1/3 of dyson cost ?

£500 odd for doing quick clean-ups? Some people have money to burn!

That's another reason why I'd get a refurbished v6 I couldn't justify the price of a v8 even as a main vac let alone as one for a quick wiz round the kitchen dinner after dinner and giving th car an occasional going over.
