just gone from ntl to sky,
firstly, following the instructions @ sky to use thunderbird doesn't seem to work, could this be because SMTP/sky wasn't default - did try it but still no go?

secondly, still using ntl email address and original settings from when was with ntl - I can get e-mails sent to @ntlworld.com adresses but can't send anything get error "an error occurred sending mail: the mail server sent an incorrect greeting: aamtaout02-winn.ispmail.ntlw.com connection refused from [90.blar.blar.blar]
is this to do with change in modem?

sorry if this is easy-peasy stuff:(

help appriciated!

You don't say why it "doesn't seem to work" - some sort of error message?

As for the second one, the clue's in the error message ("the mail server sent an incorrect greeting: aamtaout02-winn.ispmail.ntlw.com connection refused from [90.blar.blar.blar]") - VM won't let you send mail through their mail servers unless you're on a VM IP.

cheers
was thinking of getting gmail addresses -think I will do, saves future messing about.

as for the first one, in sky's help it says tick one of the boxes, and in the link you gave above it says don't so I'll give that a go.

Ta!
