E-Mail Tracing

I'm getting e-mails reporting some serious allegations about a member of my staff. I'm trying to find out who is sending the e-mail but all I have is the senders address (***@live.com). Is there any way I can trace where the mail came from?

Basically, it's not possible. E-mail headers are incredibly easy to mess with and hence can't be relied on.

Just reply and tell them to come and see you personally rather than sending anonymous emails, otherwise its baseless.

If it's from live.com, all you'll trace it back to is MS's Live e-mail server...

Just treat it as anonymous, does it matter where it comes from?

You can't obviously treat the information as factual, but there is nothing wrong in investigating if there is any truth to it, assuming it affects the employment of that individual.
