:confused:I have the above mentioned laptop and have removed the cmos battry when installing a new hard drive.

The problem is now the battry is back in and i try to boot the laptop and it asks for a password.

I have googled for ages, trying back door passwords suggested for the Phoneix bios that is on the laptop but with no joy.

I have removed the battry again and left for over 40mins with all other power sources removed in hope that will defult the bios and not ask for the password but still the same.

The main issue is that the laptop will not let me boot from CD or Hard drive as defualt bios settings have kicked in. Even when I press the option at boot up to chose boot source this stil requires the password.

Any help or ideas would be appriciated as at the moment it is a door stop.

The hard drive is new and has no op system on it for informaion.

P.S also checked for jumpers on the mother board but non visable

No, the bios will not even let me access a HDD or CD as it requires a password to boot to that stage.

The laptop turns on fine but stops dead at password request

I have tried all sorts of passwords
phoenix
PHOENIX
BIOS
CMOS

but non work
