E3 2010 - Schedule

Thoughts on the conference, well kinect is exactly what i thought it would be, ultra casual but thats the point, not happy that the price for it looks to be between $150-$189. If it cost about £60-80 mark then i reckon it will be worth a laugh only if it comes with a game or a demo disc.
Game wise MGSR looked pretty fun very different to MGS4 but it will be interesting to hear more about the game.
The crytek game was all pre rendered but looked like a roman god of war thing with possible co-op.
Gears 3 look liked a more colourful gears game, i expect it will be good fun with 4 player co-op, still think Cliffy B is a bit of a numpty.
Halo Reach looked very halo esq (no surprise) until the star wars battlefront flying in space bit, that looked much better than the halo bit.
The kinetic stuff some looked staged some looked real, much like the milo kate thing from last year, but i can see the appeal for the casual games but as i said it all depends on the price. The star wars thing looked horrid IMO but im sure it will be fun even if its an onrails sabre thing, hopefully you can use one of the plastic light sabres so you can do an impression of the starwars kid. Hopefully we will know more when (if?) the press gets full hands on with all the games.
The Forza thing didnt interest me much, would rather have a wheel than pretend im driving, without force feedback I dont think it would be a fun "serious" driving game. At least they got head tracking in this time see how it compares to GT5s on tuesday.
The new 360 slim release date was a surprise but looked ugly from what i see, no chance ill get one as my 360 is very much my second console, unless my one dies a death.
In the end it was pretty much what i thought it would be, pity there wasnt many games shown that interest me, but it was always going to be about natal/kinect and casual stuff. I cant wait for hands on impressions and more info about the 360 shrunk.

I once saw a man wet himself on live TV, that is now the second most embarrassing thing i have ever seen.

That whole kinetic display is perhaps the most awful, laggy, embarrassing and pointless thing i have ever seen and it will sell millions to the idiot wii crowd.

"And it's whisper quiet"..

That alone will be worth it to some!!!

I wonder if that removeable HDD allows you to use your own HDD's (probably not), and is that an eSATA on the back? hmm.. expandle storage may become a possibility...

I was also disappointed by the lack of big games, but was nicely surprised by the fact Kinetic is at least being quite widely used, for Control/UI and despite not wanting Forza to go all casual, the idea that future titles will have some small kinetic usage may appease some of us...

My mini review:

Call of Duty Black Ops - same old stuff but different setting and added chopper gameplay
Metal Gear Solid Rising - awesome physics with the whole cutting mechanic
Gears of War 3 - Seemed pretty standard and similar to Gears 2 but with 4 player co-op, which seemed hectic
Fable III - Meh :p
Halo Reach - Well, it's Halo, evolved...
Kinect and it's various games (Kinect Sports, Kinectimals etc) - pretty impressive technology, but something that I wouldn't purchase just yet since I'm not that type of gamer - just like a lot of people here.
Star Wars and Forza on Kinect looked quite a gimmicky thing to me, I found it quite boring..
And finally the new Xbox, which is a good move by Microsoft and good value too I might add!

All in all, pretty yawny tbh ^_^

what's wrong with it, xbox will still have fps's and other games coming out that have nothing to do with kinect?

It looks like fun to me. Will be something i'll be able to play with the girlfriend.

Don't think its an eSata port. Engadget say its an "HTC-style ExtUSB port".

Also they say the hard drive isn't standard or the same as the current 360's.

would have been nice of them to show us some of the games that won't use kinect....

I will be honest. If they showed anything that actually interested me or something new for actual gamers id be looking at getting a slim. They didn't at all though :(

My biggest fear now is.. Sony doing the exact same thing with Move tomorrow and showing very little of proper gamer games. I can see it happening as well.

Watch Nintendo do a complete turn around and announce a proper hardcore gamers machine lol

To be fair though if Gears, Halo, Fable, Forza, PGR, Mass Effect, Splinter Cell and all the Rare stuff etc. haven't already tempted you, at all, it was going to be a hard sell. Don't use Kinetic as an excuse.

Maybe he was looking for something new?

I can't see why everyone is so worked up tbh, games aren't just hardcore shooters. The gaming industry is always changing, people don't seriously expect to have controllers like we have now in 10-20 years time? Not being a Kinect fanboy just stating a fact, things change.

Hell i'd much prefer to say 'Xbox On' then have to search for my pad or bend down to switch it on by hand.

Microsoft are going for an existing market, the wii showed there was one, why shouldn't microsoft, and even sony try to gain a share of it? It would be suicide not to.
