Wow, that Microsoft Conference was pretty damn good. Just games games games. Very little of the walk and talk and the only expensive, potentially unnecessary, promotional thingy was the car. Most of them new reveals too and many of them console exclusive on Xbox, but also on PC too. I guess that's what the Xbox One X is (cool name, love it), it's the console for people who just don't want to spend £1k+ on a good PC. Heck, add on like £.5k more for something that's proper 4k capable. And it looks to be the console that works best for a 4k screen, since it has the 4k blu-ray support too.
I really want to get one. But alas, it's not having the space to keep it (I guess I could stick it downstairs with the 4K TV) or the time to play the games. If they do a Red limited edition console bundled with a nice game (Xbox play anywhere so I can play it on PC too), then I'm buying one. I'm good on PC for a while, I'm not upgrading my GPU until at least Volta/Navi.
All those games were good too. Only big/expected first party title was Forza and as much as I like that car, I don't like Forza. I played Apex and it's just not as fun to drive in that game compared to the likes of Burnout, Ridge Racer, Wipeout or even Mario Kart. And hitting Sony where it hurts with original Xbox backwards compatibility...
I'll be honest, I'm for sure impressed. It may be because my expectations were low, and I thought that most of it would be showing off the Scorpio hardware. Low expectations made this look pretty damn good in my eyes. Now I'm wondering how Sony can top this? This is the best one of E3 so far. People thought that Microsoft was behind Sony and Nintendo, doesn't look that way to me anymore. Looks to me like that might be Nintendo now, even if their E3 will be games this year, Microsoft still showed off a ton of impressive games slated to release on Xbox (and PC) this year, some of which are exclusive and pretty much none of which seem like they'd be coming to Nintendo...
Though I guess if low expectations resulted in an impressive show from MS, Nintendo could perhaps similarly exceed my low expectations. All eyes on Sony now. How will they compete with this juggernaut, named X!
