***E3 2019***

Did they claim Raytracing, HFR and 8K at the same time? Nope. They claimed that the console will support Raytracing, and it will support frame rates up to 120fps, and it will support resolutions up to 8K. Zero mention of all three at once, which clearly isn't going to happen on a machine that will cost around the same as an RTX 2070.

Seems like a generational leap in console gaming to me.

Sure, it isn't when compared to a £1500+ PC. But we're talking about a ~£500 console here. It's never going to be "next gen" compared to a PC which costs several times as much. If it's as capable as an £800 PC, it'll represent incredibly good value.

I never really understand the animosity. If you want to spend a large amount of money to get the best possible visuals, PC gaming caters for that.

The PC I'm using will (when scarlett is released) have been through 4 generations of console, 360/One/One-X/Scarlett and will still be better and I'll have spent less than the cost of 4 consoles @ £500 a console including the upgrades I've done on it (basically just swapped from a 290/390 to a 1080Ti) :p

And it's not animosity it's disappointment that next gen in reality is "meh" instead of something actually cool and ground breaking

You're asking for the impossible. When there's GPUs costing £1200, a <£500 console isn't going to be breaking new ground on visuals.

Raytracing 8k and HFR its all lies because people are too dumb to realize it is not achieveable. As pointed out they claim these things while using checkerboard please keep up or shh.

And no i am not insecure either it is the opposite i am secure in that i am already next gen on a four year old PC.

Do you interact like this in real life or only when sitting behind a keyboard?

Calling people dumb, braindead, too shhh, a bit of casual sexism... did I miss anything? I see you've been a member since 2006, can only presume your parents made you an account when they found out they were expecting.

Nintendo smashed E3 for me. Which is funny because they hardly turned up. They just brought what we expected and teased BOTW2 at the end yet they were still comfortably my most positive presentation.

Everyone else was underwhelming sadly.

This next gem is the most exciting for me...they’re actually using a proper CPU and given what ms did with Scorpio - this excites me. I still have a good pc and always will.

Me too overall... Microsoft did really impress me though (Scarlett aside) with their attitude. Even though I know a healthy chunk of it is purely capitalising on the current Epic vs. Steam climate for some good PR, I feel like our boi Phil is taking them in a good direction and I hope it continues...

Nintendo though, really good... I was worried that it was going to feel lacklustre without Reggie, and at the start when Doug Bowser came on it felt like he was going to try and emulate Reggie's style, which I wasn't on-board with. But I quickly warmed to him - I think he's going to be good for Nintendo as well. My biggest criticism of their show was a few too many wee-a-boo anime games that just wash over me with complete disinterest, but that's just because I don't really play those games I guess!

Shame it wasn't a live stage show - I reckon people would have lost their **** over Banjo showing up even more than Keanu!!! (especially with that brilliant bait + switch)

LOL, I just don't get that at all. Someone's gonna have to explain it to me. A game character (Banjo) appearing in a game (Smash Bros)? What's the big deal?

I suppose it's something to do with me spending my entire life without any kind of Nintendo presence. :D

They (don't forget Kazooie!) are just a coupled of fairly beloved characters if you had the original games on the N64, and since Rare were acquired by Microsoft they sort of wasted the IP with a single (terrible) game and have since just left it... Being out of Nintendo's hands (and in Microsoft's) seemed to pretty much signal that people would never see them again, so having them turn up at all, even if it is just in Smash Bros. was a pretty big surprise (that speaks further to Microsoft's renewed attitude towards other platforms)... and could signal the possibility of a new Banjo title that might not suck so hard this time

On reflection perhaps not a Keanu-beater on the hype-o-meter, but certainly still a big deal for people who grew up playing the N64 games :)

You can always see it the other way around: due to consoles limitations in regards to gaming, you've saved money by not being forced to upgrade.

With that said, rising the targeted hardware from current consoles to a more potent one (just because it was available on the PC is pointless, since that's not the target), will result in technical better games: smarter AI (and in greater numbers), better physics, more complex worlds, etc.
