E3 2023 cancelled

Cheaper just to announce stuff on Youtube or do your own smaller show when the games are at a state to show the world. Less pressure on getting something ready for the E3 date.

I do miss the days of eagerly getting my issue of Gamesmaster to see their E3 wrap-up.

Echo the above.

Not at all sad that a corporate greed gathering has suffered, and soon to happen to all other now corporate publicity events.

Sad that this is what happened to all gatherings that were once great excitement and events.

Somewhat ironic.

It was great seeing so many different game companies together in one space, all with major announcements. But E3 didn't really keep up with the times. Summer Game Fest has pretty much replaced it and works much better.

Sad that 10-15 years this used to be one of the highlights of my year. I'd look forward to it to get sucked into the hype machine and had dreams of going.

Over the last 5 or so years it just turned out to be a bit awful. Rose tinted goggles of mine are sad to see it go. In reality, it wont be missed
Before E3 , ECTS was the same, I went to several ECTS shows but they didnt move with the times and eventually got left in the dusts of history

I enjoyed it while it lasted. I remember watching E3 while revising for exams. Some of those shoes were quite late though so I’m not sure how much actual revision was going on:D

E3 been rubbish for years loved the Xbox 360 years of E3 they would announce the games and release the demo on the store after epic times of gaming.

They soon died now it needs about 30 patches to get any game right.

E3 was great, and when you’d had enough you could cross the road to the “other” convention being held at the same time.

EDIT: Or am I confusing E3 with CES? It’s entirely possible, I’ve got the worst memory.

Think this sums it up well. My initial thought was "that's a shame" but realistically zero impact to me. The old days of flicking through magazines after E3 and discovering what was coming soon or updates to longer term projects are long gone.

I'll miss it. Summer Games Fest does the same thing from our perspective, but supposedly makes much better sense for the studios than the dinosaur E3. Having said that, I can't ******* stand Jeff Keighley.

I'm kinda looking forward to Summer Games Fest now, truth be told (even though I can't stand Geoff Keighley). Microsoft need a good show, and I'm hopeful we'll see actual gameplay for a few of their forthcoming big-hitters e.g. Avowed, Hellblade 2 etc.

Most AAA game studios seem to have moved on to 10 years cycles so may as well just have a gaming convention every 10 years.
no one is paying all the expense to go visit indy games and early access cringe

GTAv 2013
Skrim 2011
Fallout 4 2015
RIP games, embrace the milking of the cash cows
seems like when the big studios do try they don't know how to make good games anymore anyway, no doubt all the people who cared about games left or went to work at valve where they can do nothing all day

I find it quite a sad loss. Just thinking back to all the hype moments like when Nintendo would reveal a new Zelda, or the legendary 2015 show where they announced FFVII Remake and Shenmue 3, but I suppose each studio is now focusing on their own individual shows rather than having to share the limelight with all their rivals.

So there's a PlayStation showcase announced for next week, which means we'll probably hear what their next port over to PC will be (not that TLOU was a great example of how to do that).

So what do you think will be next? I've given up on Bloodborne TBH, unless they decide to remaster it for PS5 as well. Ghost of Tsushima looks a good bet?
